Storm damage reported across WNC as severe weather rolls through

WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA (FOX Carolina) -

Storm damage was reported across Western North Carolina as severe weather pushed through the area on Thursday.

In Rutherford County, NC, dispatchers confirmed trees were down, some blocking roads, from Forest City to Ellenboro. Dispatchers confirmed one tree was down along Coxe Road at Highway 221 South.

NCDOT reported a tree and power lines down along Turner Road in Polk County, about .75 miles from NC 9, and said the roadway was blocked.

The National Weather Service reported trees down along I-26 and a tree down on a semi tractor trailer truck near mile marker 64 in Polk County, as well. Troopers said this crash happened along I-26 W at 5:10 p.m. and 3 lanes are closed due to the scene.
