The Spartanburg Police Department and the coroner were called to a deadly single-vehicle collision in Spartanburg Monday morning.

Police say the crash happened on Beaumont Avenue and Clinchfield Street at the under path.

Police had taped the area off to traffic and a red tarp was hung at the scene.

It was reported by witnesses that the car made a left turn from Isom Street onto Beaumont Avenue and as the vehicle approached the cement under path, it struck the middle column of the bridge, police said.

There was only one occupant in the vehicle at the time of the collision. The female driver was pronounced dead on scene at approximately 11:11 a.m.

The victim was identified by the Coroner's Office as 53-year-old Sharon Lea Williams of Spartanburg. Her manner of death is pending a toxicology report.
