GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

According to an attorney for Greenville County councilman Richard Roberts Jr., he may have an assault charge dismissed.

Roberts was arrested in October 2017 after deputies said he hit the manager of the Saluda River Yacht Club with a metal pipe. The incident stemmed from a bounced check issued by Roberts’ brother, an employee of the Pickens County bar, deputies said.

The councilman later turned him in and was charged with third-degree assault and battery.

According to attorney Beattie Ashmore, if Roberts successfully completes pre-trial intervention, the charge will be dismissed and expunged from his record.
