More potentially flooding rain likely next couple days

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The rainy stretch lasts several more days, with flooding possible as the ground stays saturated. Over 3 inches have fallen in some areas, and another 1-3" remains possible from now through the weekend.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the higher elevations of Greenville, Pickens, and Oconee counties, along with Macon, southern Jackson, Transylvania, Henderson, Buncombe, Yancey, and Mitchell counties. The high elevations of Polk, Rutherford and McDowell counties are also included. This "watch" goes until 8am on Friday.

A Flood Warning is in effect for the French Broad River at Blantyre until Saturday morning. This impacts both Transylvania and Henderson counties.

Showers and heavy downpours continue to develop in our area. Rain will continue to become more widespread, making it a near-washout by the afternoon. Today will likely be the rainiest out of the next several.

Friday will be a close second to Thursday rain-wise, but things should quiet down a little by this weekend. The “hit and miss” variety of showers will still be likely Saturday through next Tuesday as our gulf system finally moves north.

In the wake of this system, another disturbance will re-up rain chances next Wednesday as highs continue to hold in the upper 70s to low 80s.
