LAKE HARTWELL, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A fisherman used his side imaging fish finder to capture images of burned boats that sank to the bottom of Lake Hartwell following the Portman Marina fire.

Dwayne Fricks said the boats sank in an area that’s about 50-feet-deep.

“I was just out there fishing and went over there and used my Lowrance Graph (fish finder) to see what was down there,” Hicks said.

At least 11 boats were destroyed or are believed to have sank after a huge fire at Dock 6 of Portman Marina in Anderson County.

Investigators believe a generator backfired and sparked the blaze, which spread to other boats.

One person was airlifted to the Augusta Burn Center after the fire.
