Coroner identifies Upstate driver killed after striking ditch, tree, overturning

GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenwood County Coroner confirms a fatal accident involving a single vehicle early Saturday morning.

Per the coroner, the victim was traveling in the area of the 1300 block of Siloam Church Road when the car left the roadway and struck a ditch and a tree before overturning. The collision took place around 5 a.m.

The driver succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision at the scene. Troopers say he was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected.

The coroner identified the victim as Daryl Luke McCarthy, 29 of Ninety Six. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

McMarthy's manner of death was ruled an accident. His cause of death was blunt force trauma.

The Coroner's Office along with SC Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the collision.
