Coroner identifies Upstate passenger killed in collision in Oconee Co.

OCONEE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Upstate woman was killed after a collision in Seneca Monday evening, the coroner confirms.

Troopers say the collision took place at approximately 7:17 p.m. at the intersection of Blue Ridge Boulevard (SC 28) and Keowee School Road (SC 188).

The coroner said as a result of the collision, 71-year-old Linda Ann Roose of Seneca died in the emergency department at Oconee Memorial Hospital at approximately 8 p.m.

Roose was the front seat passenger in a Nissan that was traveling south on SC 188 while a Jeep Cherokee was traveling east on SC 28. Troopers say the Jeep struck the Nissan in the middle of the intersection.

The driver in the Jeep was not injured.

The driver in the Nissan was injured and transported to Greenville Memorial for his injuries. At this time, his condition is unknown.

Roose's manner of death was classified as accidental.

No further details were released on the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
