LANDRUM, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County School District One said police and first responders will assist in a relocation drill at O.P. Earle Elementary School on Tuesday.

Officials said Landrum and Campobello Police, Landrum Fire and Rescue, Landrum Rescue Squad, and Spartanburg EMS will participate in the drill, along with students and staff.

Officials said all students and staff will load school buses during the drill and will be transported to Landrum High School.

Once the buses arrive at Landrum High School and all students are accounted for, the students will be bused back to their school to continue a normal school day.

“Observing the relocation drill in action will provide our district and local emergency responders with an invaluable opportunity to affirm that our emergency response protocol is solid and allow us to identify any areas of improvement that could be gleaned through a simulation,” the school district said in a statement. “Student safety is our top priority and we believe that proactive measures such as emergency drills are essential to maintaining the safe and secure learning environment that we have at O.P. Earle Elementary.”

The drill is expected to be over by 10 a.m.
