ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson police said the Walmart Supercenter was evacuated and the bomb squad was called in to investigate a suspicious package on Thursday.

Captain Mike Aikens said Walmart employees found a suspicious package in the ladies restroom around noon and made the decision to evacuate the store on Liberty Highway.

Police assisted in the evacuation and secured the scene while the bomb squad mobilized at the store.

Aikens said the suspicious item was a box with wires coming out of it, but upon investigation it turned out to be a fifth or sixth grade school project.

Around 2:30 p.m., the all-clear was given and police left the scene.

Aikens said they are still trying to determine who left it in the bathroom.
