Help for Laurens County residents dealing with cancer

Posted: Updated:
CLINTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

There's a resource for those battling cancer in Laurens County that can help ease the financial and emotional burdens that come with the disease.

The Laurens County Cancer Association has been in Clinton since 2012, but they want to make sure county residents know the service is there.

They provide monthly gas cards and household necessities like toilet paper and hygiene products to those battling cancer.

And the women who run the association have their own personal stories when it comes to cancer, so they understand what their clients are going through, including Teresa Bussey, who is a cancer survivor.

“I get to come here on Tuesdays and Thursdays, see precious people who are battling cancer and I know how they feel," said Bussey. "I know their aches and pains because I've been through it.”

The service is free for Laurens County residents, but you have to stop by the office and sign up.

They are open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and are located in Clinton at 1337 Medical Ridge Road.
