Deputies: K-9 apprehends kidnapping suspect after Greenville Co. SWAT standoff

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said the SWAT team has been activated after an armed subject barricaded himself inside a home. on Thursday.

Deputies said they responded to a disturbance at a residence on Crestwood Drive around 1:50 p.m.

According to Master Deputy Ryan Flood, a male suspect was holding a victim hostage in the residence. At some point, the suspect began loading up a firearm, deputies said, and the victim was then able to escape and call for help.

SWAT was activated and a standoff ensued.

Around 3:30 p.m., Flood said a K-9 was able to locate the suspect and apprehend him, although he was bitten by the dog in the process.

Deputies said the suspect, who was identified as Jarrett Morgan McClellan, will be charged with kidnapping.

The victim was uninjured.
