Spotty storms today, Alberto rain by Monday

Posted: Updated:

Alberto to make Gulf Coast landfall Monday, bringing the Carolinas several days of rain chances.

Sun and clouds today, with scattered showers and storms toward late-day. The rain should become widespread late tonight and last into Memorial Day Monday. Rain could be heavy at times into the early part of the week.

A Flash Flood Watch goes into effect tonight through Tuesday morning as Alberto brings heavy rain to the entire area. The French Broad River at Blantyre goes under a Flood Warning on Tuesday due to expected rain.

As the circulation of Alberto moves inland over parts of FL/AL Monday, it will slowly meander north and then northeastward. As this happens, our area will remain on the unsettled east side of the circulation – and this will mean continued chance of numerous showers and storms through Wednesday.

Toward late next week, whatever is left of Alberto should be out of the southeast. There looks to finally be a slight reprieve of rain chances coming by Friday.
