City of Greenville to install new playground equipment in 11 neighborhood parks

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The City of Greenville announced it will install new playground equipment in 11 neighborhood parks. 

The installation is part of the City's Neighborhood Parks Program (NPP), which was created earlier in the year to address safety issues and increase recreation use throughout Greenville. 

As part of the NPP, the City will invest $2.8 million to make improvements in 24 neighborhood parks. The projects include lighting, fencing, trail/court resurfacing and the construction of new restrooms. 

The playground equipment project will begin May 29 and will take around four weeks to complete. The new equipment, designed for ages five-12, is ADA accessible. 

The playground installation schedule is as follows: 

Week of May 28

  • Gower Park (24 Evelyn Avenue)
  • Holmes Park (111 Holmes Drive)

Week of June 4

  • Juanita Butler Community Center (2 Burns Street)
  • McKoy Park (19 Afton Avenue)
  • Newtown Park (15 Cagle Street)

Week of June 11

  • Pinckney Fludd Park (400 Pinckney Street)
  • Railroad Mini Park (32 Becker Street)
  • Rockwood Park (398 Meyers Drive)

Week of June 18

  • Skyland Park (37 Skyland Drive) 
  • West Washington Park (W. Washington Street)
  • University Park (101 Brookside Circle)
