Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed after colliding with car on SC 295 in Spartanburg Co.

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers say a motorcyclist passed away at the hospital following a collision on SC 295 in Spartanburg Saturday night.

Per troopers, a driver in a Nissan 4-door was attempting to enter SC 295 from Old Airport Road when it pulled out in front of a Harley Davidson motorcycle heading south on SC 295. The motorcyclist then subsequently struck the Nissan on the driver's side of the car, troopers said.

The collision took place at approximately 9:55 p.m.

The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and transported to Spartanburg Regional where the victim passed away. Troopers say the driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Nissan driver's injuries are unknown, troopers said. The driver was wearing a seat belt.

The coroner identified the motorcyclist as Larson Montgomery Burgess, 27 of Spartanburg. He was pronounced dead on Sunday at 2:21 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
