The Town of Black Mountain issued a state of emergency proclamation Thursday due to a water interruption affecting the entire town.

The town said public service crews may have found a major leak and will be working throughout the day to repair the line.

Many water customers will experience water outages and officials said it is important for everyone to conserve water and limit unnecessary use.

The town is also under a Boil Water Advisory, meaning that all water should be vigorously boiled for at least one minute before using for drinking, cooking, or oral hygiene.

The town said updates will be provided on its Facebook page.
