Officials with American Red Cross said they'll be in McDowell and Buncombe Counties on Monday, June 4, providing assistance.

The Red Cross said they'll have two trucks will travel throughout Buncombe and McDowell Counties distributing emergency supplies.

One truck will travel around the Flat Creek Road area of Black Mountain. The other truck will travel through the Riverbreeze Road area of Marion.

The trucks will be out from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., officials said.

According to the American Red Cross, people impacted by the recent storms can stop by to pick-up emergency clean-up supplies including: tarps, heavy duty garbage bags, work gloves, bleach, mops, rakes, shovels, hand sanitizer, brooms, scrub brushes, and insect repellent.

In addition, disaster trained volunteers will continue assessing damages to homes in Buncombe and McDowell Counties to determine their remaining recovery planning efforts.

“While the storm is behind us, the road to recovery for many is still ahead,” said Alli Trask, executive director of Red Cross Asheville-Mountain Area Chapter. “Red Cross volunteers will be by the sides of those needing recovery assistance for weeks to come helping them down that road.”
