Red Cross assisting person whose Abbeville home damaged by tree after struck by lightning, they say

ABBEVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The American Red Cross is assisting a person whose Abbeville home was damaged when a tree, they say was hit by lightning, fell onto their home.

Per the Red Cross, the damage was done on Friday to a home on Greenville Street.

The City of Abbeville Fire Department responded. They said the public utilities and gas company also were called to the scene.

FOX Carolina spoke with the daughter of the homeowner. She said her mother was the only one home at the time and she was directly under the impact.

Thankfully, her mother was not injured.
