Troopers: 1 dead, 4 hospitalized after SUV collides with motorcycle trying to pass another vehicle

EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said one person is dead and three people were hurt when a car and motorcycle collided in Pickens County Sunday evening.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on North Fish Trap Road near Night Drive, about two miles east of Easley.

Troopers said a Suzuki motorcycle was trying to pass another vehicle when it was struck by a Toyota SUV heading the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist, a 24-year-old from Greenville, was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the bike during the crash. The victim died at the hospital.

He was identified as Jakob Hamby of Greenville.

A passenger on the motorcycle was also thrown from the bike and taken to the hospital with injuries, troopers said.

The driver of the SUV, a 51-year-old from Townville, and two passengers, ages 71 and 46, were taken to the hospital with injuries.

No charges were filed in the case.
