ATHENS, GA (FOX Carolina) -

On Tuesday, officials with Oconee County, Georgia Sheriff's Office announced that crews had located the bodies of two teens reported missing after falling into a creek.

Oconee County Emergency Services in South Carolina helped authorities in Oconee County, Georgia with the search.

The teens, identified as 18-year-old Bryant Wade and 18-year-old Cameron Smith, had both fallen into Barber Creek.

Officials said Bryant fell from a dam near the Old Puritan Rope Mill and Cameron had jumped in to save him.

On Sunday, Oconee County Emergency Services sent nine team members from South Carolina to Georgia to help search the popular swimming hole. The crews assisted in remote camera operation and dive searches.

"One of the missions that we had is to put a small camera into the water that we can look at on a screen outside the water," Deputy Chief Scott Krein, with Oconee County Emergency Management said, "It gives us a snapshot of what is there so we can actually view it without putting a person in danger and try to get resolution."

Deputy Chief Krein said they have specialized equipment that many counties do not have access to, and they are often called in to assist other counties in neighboring states.

"We try to help wherever is needed and if we have an asset that one of them may need, we want to make sure they can use it," Krein said.

Authorities in Georgia and more than 45 friends and family participated in the search at Barber Creek.

Deputies said the teens were found within five minutes of each other, roughly 50-75 yards apart in McNutt Creek, downstream from the confluence of Barber and McNutt Creeks.

Recovery efforts are still underway for one of the teens, however officials with the Sheriff's Office declined to share any further details on the operation.
