The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said two deputies were injured after a suspect struck the law enforcement officers and multiple patrol vehicles after a chase.

Deputies said a vehicle was reported stolen from a location on South Pleasantburg around 11:00 a.m. The car was later traced to the K-Mart Plaza, deputies said.

The sheriff's office said deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the car fled the scene.

Deputies said a short chase ensued but was canceled due to the danger posed to the public. The sheriff's office said their chopper was able to locate the vehicle and follow it.

According to the sheriff's office, the stolen car ended up at a parking garage at Greenville Health System. Deputies said the vehicle was cornered near the hospital when the car began reversing towards deputies, striking deputy vehicles.

Deputy Sean Zukowsky said the suspect's vehicle hit one deputy who was outside of a patrol car and struck another deputy while driving out of the parking garage.

The car crashed after exiting the garage and the suspect was taken into custody.

Deputies said the driver of the vehicle, Jeffery Locke, had active warrants from a crime spree in May in which he was accused of stealing a vehicle, stealing cases of beer and threatening a store clerk, stealing women's shoes, stealing merchandise from a gas station, and failing to stop for deputies.

Locke appeared in bond court Friday morning on a list of charges. The judge was unable to set bond.

Deputies said Locke faces a total of 26 charges.

13 were existing warrants for failure to stop for blue light (three counts), reckless driving (two counts), malicious damage, driving under suspension, armed robbery, possession of stolen vehicle, no brake lights, and two counts of shoplifting enhanced.

New charges filed on June 7 include possession of cocaine, receiving stolen goods, attempted murder (six counts), driving under suspension, failure to stop for blue lights, and resisting arrest.
