GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Bass Pro Shops is teaming up with Cabela's urging kids and families to disconnect from their digital devices, and get connected with nature through the Gone Fishing movement.

To kick off this movement, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's are donating 50,000 rods and reels to nonprofit organizations that help kids from all backgrounds connect to the outdoors.

On Thursday, at 12 p.m., a special ceremony will be held at Cabela's in Greenville on Woodruff Road in honor of the Gone Fishing movement. This event will feature the Blue ridge Council Boy Scouts of America where they will receive a donation of rods and reels.

The Gone Fishing event don't stop there however, from June 9-10 and 16-17, kids of all ages are invited to catch their first fish with a free catch-and-release pond, take home a "First Fish" certificate and beginner's fishing guide, participate in seminars and more.

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's hope this movement will inspire future generations to enjoy, love and conserve the great outdoors.
