12 years later, still no arrests in the NiShan Huff homicide case

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

It's a ritual Sacha Huff hates.

"I need closure because it doesn't seem real to me," she said.

On Thursday, Sacha Huff and her grandchildren gathered candles for a candlelight vigil to shed light on the day someone shot and killed her daughter, NiShan Huff.

"The not knowing part is probably the hardest thing because I know somebody knows something," she said.

Deputies with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office say someone shot and killed NiShan Huff inside apartment E-1 at the Boulder Creek Apartment complex. When Huff thinks about her daughter, sometimes she drives to the complex.

"What would her child be like. I see her in my grandkids in a lot of things they do. Sometimes I get out and I stand in that spot at the top in that curve," Huff said."Because I always wanted to go in while she was there and they told me I couldn't."

Investigators say the shooting happened in the afternoon of June 7, 2006 and they believe someone saw something that day.

"It might be a small piece, but that piece intertwined and connected with another piece can solve the big picture and figure out exactly who killed her and why they killed her," Sgt. Ryan Flood said.

Flood works with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office and says investigators need tips from the public to help solve the case.

"To have to go through this for 12 years without knowing who killed their loved on, it's unacceptable," Flood said.
"This is on our radar and we want to get this solved."

It's why the family goes back to the Boulder Creek Apartment complex every year. They hope to spark a memory and honor the light NiShan Huff brought to their lives.
