SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Seneca Police said a man accused of burglarizing property owned by the city and the Oconee County Rescue Squad was arrested Sunday.

Officers said the first burglary was reported on May 30 at the Oconee County Rescue Squad on Goddard Avenue. The building was damaged and property was stolen, police said.

The second burglary occurred on June 4 at a building on Shiloh Road owned by the City of Seneca, officers said. According to police, several thousand dollars' worth of electronic equipment was stolen from an office.

Officers said security camera footage assisted in identifying the suspect as Joshua Douglas Burns of Seneca. Property belonging to the city and rescue squad was found at Burns' residence during the execution of a search warrant, according to officers.

Police said Burns has six outstanding arrest warrants for the following charges:

  • Larceny (3 counts)
  • Malicious injury to tree, house
  • Burglary-third degree
  • Burglary-second degree

On Friday, police asked the community for help tracking Burns down.

Seneca police Chief John Covington said Monday that Burns had been arrested at his home on Owens Road Sunday afternoon.

Initially, Burns would not come out of the house but was eventually arrested without incident.
