HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Coordinators with the Henderson County Youth Softball League are now looking for a pod to keep their equipment safe after their equipment shed was severely damaged and their uniforms destroyed by fire.

Per the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the shed Saturday morning where they discovered extensive damage to the building and the smoldering uniforms.

The fire department was called in to render the area safe.

The league's equipment shed sits on the Henderson County Parks and Recreation system property.

Deputies believe the arson happened late Friday night of early Saturday morning.

At this time no suspects have been identified.

The Henderson County Youth Softball League released the following statement on the incident:

“We are devastated this has happened to us. I feel disappointed that people would do this to a non profit organization for kids. We have been working hard to get new equipment and to have it stolen and ruined is discouraging. The damage was more severe than the pics show the doors were completely destroyed and all our items are covered in the fire chemicals. It's really sad but I feel confident we will come back from this and make hcys even better.”

Deputies say they have not gotten any reports yet on if anything was stolen from the league.

The league is looking for a pod to keep their equipment safe. They can be contacted on their Facebook page, here.
