Police: Papa John's Pizza delivery person says man tried to rob him with Red Ryder BB gun

On Sunday, police responded to a call at a Papa John's Pizza restaurant regarding a robbery with a weapon in Spartanburg County.

The victim claimed that the altercation occurred at an apartment residence in Spartanburg, however, the victim wished to meet with the officer at Papa John's Pizza, per the report. 

When the officer arrived to speak with the victim, he stated that he was delivering a pizza to his assigned apartment address, when a male from another apartment called out and said that he had ordered the pizza.

According to the report, the victim said he walked up to meet the man, when he noticed that he had a gun pointing in his direction. The victim said it appeared to be a Red Ryder BB Gun, similar to one he had as a child. 

The unknown male then told him to empty his pockets and give him the pizza, the victim refused. The unknown male began to get more confrontational, and that is when the victim stated that he was going to leave with the pizza in hand, per the report. 

The officer stated, as the victim was leaving the complex, the unknown male told him, "we'll take this outside," and followed him to the car. 

The report stated that the delivery person made it out safely without giving any items to the unknown male. 

The suspect was reported as a male with with a mustache, he was dressed in a red shirt and gray or silver exercise pants, per police. The case is still under investigation.
