ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Asheville Fire Department said an area of the Biltmore Estate was evacuated Wednesday morning after a gas line was breached.

Firefighters said a construction crew near Deer Park Restaurant on the Biltmore Estate cut the two-inch line.

The immediate area was evacuated and a safety perimeter was setup to keep people away.

Firefighters were able to put a temporary clamp on the line to stop the leak. The fire department said they are waiting for PSNC Gas to arrive and put a permanent clamp on the line.

Firefighters said the restaurant will remain evacuated until the permanent clamp is placed on the line.
