Father’s Day weekend will feature slightly above-average temperatures but no record heat is expected.
While this weekend will feature both days seeing a good chance of afternoon highs approaching or exceeding 90 degrees at times, that’s not too uncommon for mid-June in the Upstate.
Over the past five years, only one Father’s Day saw highs in the 90s – June 21, 2015. On that day, GSP reached 94 degrees, falling short of the record of 99 degrees set in 1981.
The “coolest” Father’s Day in the past five years was in 2016 where the observed high temperature was 83°.
It is worth mentioning that, while no rain fell in the last five Father’s Days at GSP, there is almost always a small chance of a pop-up downpour in a few spots; this year is no different!
