Coroner identifies man who died after vehicle crashed into utility pole in Greenville

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The coroner said one person is dead after a crash in Greenville on Saturday.

The call came in at 5:58 p.m.

Troopers said the incident happened along Myron Lane at Crestfield Road.

Injuries were initially reported in the crash, and the coroner's office responded to the scene. The victim was treated on scene and then extricated from the vehicle.

The coroner said the driver was taken to Greenville Memorial after striking a utility pole, and died a short time later.

The coroner identified the victim as 70-year-old William T. Burnett of Greenville. 

Burnett died from blunt force trauma, the coroner said.  

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.
