Hot 4th of July ahead with only a few brief storms

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

It’ll be a hot 4th of July with isolated evening thunderstorms that might briefly interrupt some outdoor festivities.

Luckily these downpours will be very limited in number from about 5-10 PM, and any that do form will only last a few minutes as highs reach the upper 80s and lower 90s with decent sunshine otherwise.

A few lingering showers remain possible overnight, but safe to say the commute Thursday morning should be dry with patchy fog.

The rest of Thursday brings increasing cloud cover and a few more showers and storms to dodge during the afternoon and evening.

Those will become more scattered in the mountains by Friday afternoon with a few moving down to the Upstate as well.

All these rain chances will be thanks to a cold front that will push through the area on Saturday, which is in when both the Upstate and mountains will experience scattered afternoon thunderstorms.

Temperatures during this stretch will be noticeably cooler with highs in the 80s for everyone.

Sunday looks much drier with a stray afternoon shower or two, which is about how the first couple days of next week will shake out as well.
