Rain stays spotty today, increases Friday

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Rain chances increase late-week, with some less humid and slightly cooler air moving in by Sunday!

Throughout the day, expect a mix of sun and clouds and a small chance of afternoon showers or storms in the Upstate, with a slightly better chance across the mountains. Expect highs in the 80s to near 90 degrees.

A cold front will approach from the north Friday, bringing better rain/storm chances to the mountains by the early afternoon. Scattered showers and storms are then expected in the Upstate by mid-afternoon, and lasting into the evening hours.

Saturday could be a mainly cloudy day with areas of spotty rain, but it looks like the heaviest rain could set up well south of the area. As a result, highs may hold in the 70s across WNC and low 80s for the Upstate.

Slightly cooler, less humid air is expected to move in by Sunday and into the first part of next week. Expect more  refreshing mornings and a more pleasant feel to the seasonally warm afternoons.
