ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said an 83-year-old from Liberty was killed when a minivan ran off US 178 and struck a tree Tuesday morning.

The crash happened near the intersection of Jolly Wingo Road just after 10 a.m.

Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown said Mary Jo Lesley and her 87-year-old sister were driving to take food to some friends of theirs from church when Lesley collapsed at the wheel.

McCown said she suffered a massive heart attack.

The sister was able to steer the minivan off the road. The van then struck a tree.

The sister was not hurt.
