Deputies say fight between acquaintances led to Union Co. shooting

BUFFALO, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Union County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that left one injured on Wednesday.

Deputies were notified around 11 a.m. when they received a 911 reporting a gunshot. The caller saw the victim outside fall and helped him to his house, at which time the victim called someone to take him to the emergency room, deputies said.

The shooting occurred in the 200 block of Lukesville Road.

Investigators said an argument between two acquaintances occurred before the victim was shot in the lower abdomen.

Deputies identified the suspect as Rayfus Cunningham. They said he told them the altercation stemmed from a text message and admitted to shooting the victim.

Cunningham is charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
