A cold front pushes showers and storms into the region today, but doesn't do much to relieve the heat.
Expect increasing clouds today with showers and thunderstorms from midday into the afternoon. They'll start in the mountains and continue to push south into the Upstate throughout the evening. Lingering showers and storms remain possible tonight and tomorrow.
There will still be isolated afternoon showers and storms each afternoon through the weekend, but all in all, any rain that falls won't last long.
Another system will move in early next week which will again increase our rain chance next Tuesday.
In the tropics, the remnants of Beryl still could regenerate over the western Atlantic before curving out to sea. Chris continues to accelerate into the northern open Atlantic away from the U.S. east coast.
