SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg police are asking for the public's help in finding a suspect who allegedly defrauded a local Walmart in June.

The incident report states the Walmart on Dorman Centre Drive called officers on June 22 after they realized a man had falsely "returned" items to get a cash refund.

An officer who viewed security footage of the incident says the suspect entered the store without anything, then placed dog food and a toy in his cart.

The suspect then took the cart to customer service for a refund with an older receipt, was given cash, and then used the money to make a real purchase before leaving.

Photos of the suspect were posted to SPD's Facebook page.

Anyone with information is asked to contact SPD by reaching out to investigators at 864-596-2065, calling the tip line at 864-573-0000, or by privately messaging the department's Facebook page and referencing  case number C18070254.
