LOCK UP: Police say man stole money, weapons from unlocked cars in Upstate neighborhoods

SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Seneca Police Department said a suspect is in custody after several car break-ins earlier in the week.

Officers said items were taken from several different cars at the Lory at Clemson Ridge and Seneca Heights neighborhoods on July 9.

During the investigation, police said they gathered enough evidence to charge 27-year-old David John Gantt of Hendersonville with 8 count of breaking into a motor vehicle and 5 counts of simple larceny.

Some of the stolen belongings were able to be returned to the victims.

According to arrest warrants, the vehicles Gantt is charged with breaking into were unlocked. Money, a knife and a Glock handgun were among the items taken, the warrants state.
