TRAVELERS REST, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Travelers Rest police are investigating after a “dumper diving” outing reportedly resulted in a carjacking Thursday night, according to Chief Lance Crowe.

Crowe said the victim and the two suspects drove together in one car to a dumpster in Travelers Rest.

“While the driver was ‘dumpster diving’ the men reportedly assaulted him and put a cold metal object he thinks was a gun against his neck,” Crowe said.

The driver then claimed the other two men threw him into the dumpster and left with his car.

“He did have marks on his neck and the officers had EMS evaluate him on the scene,” Crowe said of the victim.

The victim did not know the full names of the suspects.

Crowe said he does not believe the incident was random and said there is no immediate threat to the public.
