They said that snowfall accumulations of 4-6 inches are possible.

The weather service also issued a winter weather advisory for Graham, Macon, southern Jackson, Transylvania, Henderson, Polk, Rutherford and McDowell counties in North Carolina and the northern part of Oconee, Pickens and Greenville counties from 6 a.m. Tuesday until midnight Wednesday.

Forecasters said that locations in the advised area could see accumulations of snow and sleet in the 1- to-2-inch range. They said that light accumulations are expected near the Blue Ridge.

The weather service also issued a high wind watch for the southern mountain counties, northern Upstate counties and all of northeast Georgia from Wednesday morning through late Wednesday night.
