Position: News Writer
Department: News
Reports To: News Director
Group/Location: Broadcasting/WHNS
Position Summary: Individual is responsible for writing news stories and teases for the station’s newscasts which are informative, interesting and entertaining. Additional responsibilities include writing news stories for the website. Train as back-up for the News Producer and Assignment Editor. Any other assigned tasks.
Minimum Qualifications: All must be met to be considered.
Education: College degree in Journalism, Communications or other related field.
Experience: One (1) year experience as a writer for commercial/public television or commercial/public radio.
Specific Knowledge: Knowledge of how to blend words and pictures into informative and interesting television news stories. Knowledge of issues affecting Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville-Anderson (GSAA) DMA.
Skills And Abilities: Must be able to write well, write often and write quickly. Must be able to perform quality work under high pressure deadline situations.
