Upstate fair changes policy for young attendees following ‘Several fights’

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Great Anderson County Fair announced that they changed their attendance policy following “several fights” over the weekend.

According to the new policy, nobody younger than 17 will be allowed to enter the fair without a parent. The fair announced this change via Facebook on Saturday night.

Fair Manager Tod Miller released the following statement on the policy change.

“The safety and well being of our guest is first and foremost and we are doing everything we can ensure families can enjoy their time with us. Saturday night we had a large number of unattended youth and several fights. We have modeled our policy after the State Fair in Columbia. We just felt it was time like many malls, theaters, and other event venues. Youth Attendance Policy- After 5 :00pm each day , no person under the age of 17 will be allowed entry without a parent.”
