SCHP: 3 dead after crash on Chesnee Hwy. in Spartanburg County
CHESNEE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Three people have died after a crash in Spartanburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
According to Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 5:41 p.m. on Chesnee Highway on Thursday.
Troopers say a 24-year-old driver in a Ford Mustang was traveling south on Chesnee Highway and a 57-year-old driver in a Ford SUV was traveling north. They say the driver of the Ford Mustang traveled left of center in a spin and was hit in the rear by the SUV.
Both drivers were injured and taken to the hospital.
Three passengers in the Mustang died following the crash, troopers say.
According to troopers, one passenger died at the hospital and the other two died at the scene.
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office identified the three victims as 62-year-old Williams Mark Fowler III, 20-year-old Austin Mark Fowler, and 16-year-old Farrior Earle Fowler.
The coroner said Farrior Fowler and Austin Fowler were pronounced dead at the scene; Mr. Fowler was pronounced dead at the hospital.
