Friend recording couple’s engagement gets distracted by raccoon, misses big moment
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Gray News) – A marriage proposal in South Carolina didn’t get recorded as planned because the friend in charge got distracted by a raccoon.
In a video uploaded to TikTok, Mary Dawson said she “missed the whole kneeling part” of her best friend’s engagement.
“I shouldn’t have been trusted to record my friend’s proposal,” Dawson wrote in text on the video.
The video starts by focusing on the couple, then pans over to a raccoon nearby. By the time Dawson focuses the camera back on the couple, the groom-to-be is already back on his feet.
“Don’t worry, she wasn’t mad!” Dawson wrote in the video’s caption.
While some commenters said they would have been upset if they were the bride, most found the video hilarious.
“I would seriously understand. So many marriages fail… but a cute little raccoon encounter – lasts forever,” one wrote.
“The raccoon was the real star here. Get pictures at the wedding. Invite the raccoon,” another wrote.
The TikTok video has more than 23 million views as of Thursday afternoon.
