MERIDIANVILLE, Ala. (WAFF/Gray News) - An off-duty Huntsville police officer was arrested early Thursday morning after authorities say he broke into his ex’s home.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, 41-year-old Brandon O’Field is facing charges of burglary and kidnapping in connection with a domestic incident on Thanksgiving.

The sheriff’s office said it all started when patrol units were dispatched to a home on Keva Street that morning in reference to a domestic violence report.

Authorities said two people at the scene confirmed that O’Field, the ex-boyfriend of one of them, had forced his way into the residence.

O’Field took off from the home, but law enforcement said they later spotted him driving nearby and attempted to pull him over.

However, O’Field reportedly sped away from officers, reaching speeds of over 100 mph before barricading himself inside his home.

The 41-year-old eventually surrendered after a brief standoff and was taken into custody.

O’Field was booked into the Madison County Jail without bond.

The Huntsville Police Department said it was aware of O’Field’s arrest, and he has since been placed on administrative leave pending the criminal investigation.
