26-pound cat

(Meredith) - An animal shelter turned to social media to find someone willing to adopt a 26-pound cat named BeeJay, or Mr. B for short.

The Morris Animal Refuge in Philadelphia shared photos of the adorable feline on Twitter and Facebook this week.

"He’s a chonk of a chonk. He redefines the term," the shelter wrote. "Adopt this jumbo-sized package of fluff & love, and help this sad-eyed guy find happiness."

After the photos of Mr. B went viral, the shelter received countless inquiries from people interested in adopting him. There was so much traffic to the shelter's website on Thursday, it crashed.

The shelter later posted an update to its Facebook page, saying Mr. B needed a "more thorough checkup" by a veterinarian before continuing the adoption process.

"Mr. B says apologetically that he won’t be able to go home yet today - our vet wants to do a thorough checkup due to his size, etc," the shelter tweeted.
