Anderson native Chadwick Boseman stars as the Black Panther: Local pastor reacts

An Upstate native is making some major waves on the big screen.

Chadwick Boseman is from Anderson, South Carolina and is both an actor and producer.

A graduate of T.L. Hanna High School, and both Howard University and the British American Dramatic Academy at Oxford, England, Boseman is no newcomer to film.

His latest project, "Black Panther," is set for release on February 16, 2018, in IMAX and 3D. The movie is based on a Marvel Comics character. IMDb shared a description of the film on their website:T'Challa, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king.In "Black Panther," Boseman stars alongside other big names such as Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Sterling K. Brown.

According to IMDb, some of his past roles include starring as T'Challa, The Black Panther in "Captain America: Civil War," James Brown in "Get On Up," Jackie Robinson in "42," and Thurgood Marshall in "Marshall." Boseman has also had roles in several television shows, including "Lincoln Heights" and "Persons Unknown."

He is currently filming for and starring as T'Challa in an "Untitled Avengers Movie" set for release in 2019.
