Sport fishermen reeled in a 16-foot, 3,000-pound Great White shark off the South Carolina coast, according to the Island Packet.
Outcast Sport Fishing posted on Facebook that the massive shark was tagged and released in the waters off Hilton Head on Feb. 19. It was their second shark of the day. The first one got away.
“In less than 10 minutes after losing the 9 to 10-footer, we connect to a behemoth, an entirely different shark. She smoked the reel and we're off,” Chip Michalove said in the post.
They had to recruit some help from another fisherman and his family to reel in and tag the giant shark.
Michalove said the shark never tired during the entire process.
“Her tail never quit wagging, and with zero panic, like she was out for a stroll with the kids. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if she was still here. What I've noticed is, the less stressed they are, the more likely they are to stay in the location they're caught.”
