Officials with Union County, SC Crime Stoppers said an inmate that escaped from Union County Detention Center on Wednesday has been recaptured.

Crime Stoppers said inmate Joshua Stephens left from the Jonesville area wearing all orange.

Investigators said Stephens later ditched his orange shirt and might have been wearing a white undershirt with orange pants.

Our FOX Carolina crew on scene said Jonesville police were also assisting in the search. An officer on scene said Stephens had been doing some sort of service, possibly mowing grass, when he escaped.

Union County officials confirmed that Stephens was in custody on charges of possession of marijuana and driving without a license. Investigators said Stephens was serving a 60-day sentence for marijuana charges and could now face up to ten years in prison if convicted for escape.

Stephens was recaptured Thursday and charged with escape.

Sheriff David Taylor said he was found with Kimberly Heil, who was charged with possession of meth and possession of food stamps that didn't belong to her.
