Clemson University trustees approved plans for facility renovations and the construction of a childcare facility during their Feb. 8-9 meetings.

The trustees approved a $5 million budget plan to construct the childcare facility. According to the university, the 12, 700-square foot building will be operated by a private, third-party childcare provider.

The university said the construction will be funded through an endowment for faculty and staff benefits.

The facility will provide childcare for the infants, toddlers, and preschool children.

Construction is expected to be competed in 2020.
