Oconee County Emergency Services said multiple crews responded to calls of a body found at a landing Friday just before 4 p.m.

Officials said the body of a 54-year-old Westminster man was found on shore at Stamp Creek Landing.

Emergency services, the coroner's office and the sheriff's office responded to the scene.

The Oconee County coroner said the man appeared to have died earlier in the afternoon.

He was later identified as Elmer C. Church Jr., of Westminster.

The Oconee County Coroner said an autopsy performed Sunday was largely inconclusive and that toxicology analysis still needed to be completed.

However, the coroner said it did appear that Church died on Friday morning and that items found nearby indicated he planned to fish and camp in the area.
