ER fetal recovery car

Police believe this car was driven by the person who left the fetus at the door of the ER.

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) - The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office says they are investigating a fetal recovery from overnight.

According to Coroner Rusty Clevenger, his office was called at approximately 12:36 a.m. on Saturday in reference to a fetus being left at the door of Pelham Medical Center's ER.

Greer PD says based on the initial investigation, it is believed that a 4-door silver vehicle with dark tinted windows pulled up to the ER where the driver of the car got out and placed a bag at the entrance to the emergency room. Hospital staff located the bag and found a deceased fetus inside.

Clevenger says no family has been located or identified at this time.

The coroner's office says a forensic exam has been scheduled for Saturday.

At this time Spartanburg Coroner's Office says they are actively investigating along with Greer PD.

The Greer Police Department asks that anyone with information on this incident to contact  Sgt. Chris Forrester at (864) 416-6618 or cforrester@cityofgreer.org
