Interstate 385 was shut down Tuesday evening as authorities investigated reports of a body found in the road.

Greenville County dispatchers confirmed to FOX Carolina the body was reportedly found near mile marker 34 and Butler Road, in the southbound lanes of the interstate near Mauldin.

The Greenville County Coroner's Office said a 47-year-old Mauldin man was pronounced dead by EMS when they arrived on scene.

Right now the cause of death is still under investigation and an exam is scheduled for Wednesday.

Mauldin police said the investigation is ongoing but there was no initial sign of foul play. Police said Wednesday that the death appeared to be a suicide.
